The Restaurant Review “Angelos Best Pizza and Calzone in Houston”

Those of us who remember college likely also remember the college staple of beer and pizza. Going to Angelo's of Houston, TX is like meeting your old college roommate 10 years later, finding you've both matured but that you can still have a blast together. Angelo's is just minutes from the Main Street Square station of Houston's light rail, right in the heart of downtown Houston. The restaurant offers a casual yet sophisticated ambience reminiscent of a tavern crosses with a bistro. But the heart and soul of Angelo's remains its beer and its pizza.

While many restaurants, even Italian restaurants, will serve you pizza or a calzone, Angelo's counts these among their specialties. Angelo's has its own brick oven which allows it to bake pizza the way it's meant to be done - not pulled through an electric grill on a conveyor belt, but nestled amongst the wonderful-hot bricks of a traditional pizza oven until cooked to perfection. Needless to say, the pizzas and calzones are made from scratch, and it shows in the flavor. No skimping on toppings at Angelo's: you'll definitely get your money's worth of whatever you choose to pile on your pizza pie. Not only can you choose from the traditional staples of mushrooms and pepperoni, but Angelo's will surprise you with the wide range of other toppings they have available. No one that's eaten there recently will deny Angelo's serves one of, if not the, best calzone and pizza in the downtown Houston area.

Not to mention, of course, the wide-ranging selection of beers on draft available to compliment your calzone or pizza. With over 50 types of beer flowing from "the coldest tap system on Main Street" to choose from, everyone's sure to find their favorite - or favorites!

Whether choosing eat-in, carryout or delivery, your first choice for a great calzone or pizza in Houston needs to be Angelo's, at 711 Main Street.

I am not one for trusting restaurant reviews, but I have to admit Angelo's Calzones are pretty tasty, and I'm from New York City.
